Vigorous and Beautiful 08/13/2025
By Kat
I live in Texas in zone 8b. This iris is on the south side of our house in a dry, poor soil bed that absolutely bakes in the summer sun. The rhizomes are typically large and vigorous. We have to thin her every few years and end up with a lot of heathy rhizomes to share. Her color stays pretty consistent and doesn't fade too much with age. There are always several blooms per stalk. She has a wonderfully sweet fragrance that I look forward to each spring. We've grown this iris in large pots and in the ground and it seems to do well no matter what. I have about 30+ iris varieties and this is in the top 5 for being a consistently hardy, strong grower that will even bloom in off years when other irises decide not too for whatever reason. Though listed as a rebloomer I have never seen it rebloom here. However, I've never seen any of my rebloomers reblooming the fall so maybe it's just my yard.
