(Ernst 1985) TB 36 inches (91 cm), M The standards are a beautiful tan and the falls are lavender. It produces many flowers and is a very good grower. HM 1989 AM 1993 Sweet fragrance.
(Frederick Kerr 1994) TB, 38 inches (97 cm), M S. pure white; F. white, edged blue; beards golden yellow; ruffled; slight fragrance. Edith Wolford X Condottiere. HM 1997.
(Vilmorin, 1910) TB, ML From Bulletin 112: Color effect light hortense violet, velvety pansy-violet bicolor; S. light mauve or hortense violet, shaded deeper in recesses of creped portions.; F. deep velvety pansy violet, bronzed and veined on wide outer haft and becoming olive-yellow along the dense, showy beard. A large well-balanced flower of extra substance, firm texture, and good fragrance. The exceptionally tall, widely branched flowering stalks are freely produced and well supported by excellent dark foliage of open growth. This is a distinct variety, a late bloomer, and one of the best ten as a specimen plant. Rating 89. Some say it smells like Root Beer.

(Jean Cayeux 1991) TB 33 inches (84 cm) EM. S. pure crystalline white; F. medium blue with white center; beards yellow. Sweet fragrance. RHS Award of garden merit 2000
(Byers 1992) TB 31 inches (79 cm), M & RE The standards are light blue and the falls are glacial white; red beards. Sporadic rebloom for us in zone 8. Reported to rebloom in zones 7, 8, and 9. Pronounced sweet fragrance.
